While Sikkim doesn’t have its own big train station, you can take a train to nearby stations like Siliguri (128 km away) or Jalpaiguri (172 km away) in West Bengal. These stations are connected to many cities in India. Once you arrive, you can take a bus, taxi, or rental car to reach Gangtok, which takes about 4-5 hours by road.

By Road:

If you want to travel on a budget, you can choose to go by road. Sikkim has a good road network that connects it to many places in India. The journey to Sikkim is beautiful, with green forests, hills, and the Teesta River along the way. You can travel by bus from cities like Kolkata, Bagdogra, and Jalpaiguri. By Air:

Flying is the most popular way to reach Sikkim. The Pakyong Airport is the main airport in Sikkim, and it is just 35 kilometers from Gangtok. However, Pakyong is a seasonal airport, so you can also use Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, which is about 130 kilometers from Gangtok. Both airports are well-connected with flights from major cities. For example, a flight from New Delhi to Gangtok takes only about 2 hours and 50 minutes. After landing, you can take a taxi or rental car to reach Gangtok.
